Lake Houston Methodist Church is currently seeking passionate, prayerful, and committed members to serve on our One Board in 2026. If you feel called to help lead our church in its mission and ministry, we invite you to prayerfully consider applying.
What is the One Board?
Our One Board governance model brings together Trustees, Finance, SPRC, and Lay Leadership into a single unified board. This team provides spiritual and administrative leadership to guide the direction of the church. Members serve three-year terms, offering oversight while also actively participating in ministry. The board meets monthly and works in partnership with church staff and ministry leaders.

2026 One Board Interest Submission & Election Process
To ensure alignment with the church’s mission and discernment of spiritual leadership, we follow a structured and prayerful process for all nominees:
Step 1: Application Submission
Interested candidates complete the Leadership Screening Application, which includes:
• Personal information
• Faith journey and spiritual maturity
• Involvement in church life
• Identification of spiritual gifts
• Statement of intent for serving
Step 2: Application Review
A designated Review Team—typically the Senior Pastor, One Board Chair, Chair of the Growth & Leadership Team, and other board members—will:
• Ensure each candidate meets basic criteria (church membership, alignment with values, support of church through prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness)
• Evaluate qualifications, experiences, and stated intent
• Conduct a confidential stewardship review (to confirm a pattern of regular financial giving; no amounts disclosed)
Step 3: Interview Process
Candidates are then invited for a casual interview, intended to:
• Clarify questions about their application
• Share more about the responsibilities and culture of One Board service
• Discern alignment with the board’s guiding principles
Step 4: Observation Opportunity
All applicants are invited to observe a One Board meeting prior to confirming candidacy. This gives insight into:
• Board dynamics and decision-making
• Time commitments and responsibilities
• Confidentiality expectations
Step 5: Decision to Stand for Election
After the review and observation steps:
• Candidates confirm their desire to move forward
• The review team finalizes the slate of nominees for election in the fall
